Legionella are bacteria that are found in water pipes and can cause severe illness in humans. When an infestation has been detected during a legionella inspection in a building, it is important to act quickly and appropriately. Measures must be taken to minimize the risk of infection and protect the health of owners and tenants.
In this article, we will share with you the most important steps you should take if you have been found to have Legionella.
Legionella are bacteria that find ideal growth conditions, especially in artificial water systems such as water pipes, and multiply there. The pathogens can enter our lungs via the water vapor and pose a major health risk, especially for the elderly, sick and weak. It therefore makes sense to prevent the spread of legionella in one’s own household with the right measures.
This article shows how Legionella can be successfully controlled with the help of high temperatures and provides helpful tips for the prevention of Legionella infestation.
Drinking water in Germany is subject to strict quality standards and can generally be used without hesitation, both for consumption and for personal hygiene. In some cases, however, hot drinking water from the tap or shower can also be contaminated with harmful bacteria – the so-called legionella.
This article shows why the use of a legionella filter makes sense and which types of filters can be used.
The quality of our water is crucial to our health and well-being. One of the main problems we face in this context is the presence of legionella in drinking water and the associated legionnaires’ disease.
Legionella is a type of bacteria that can be found in natural bodies of water such as lakes and rivers, but can also grow in man-made systems such as cooling towers and water heaters.
Legionella are basically found wherever there is fresh water – so they are an integral part of our drinking water in small numbers. Nevertheless, legionella can pose a threat to human health, as they can cause severe pneumonia, among other things, if they become infected.
If the external conditions are optimal for Legionella growth, they can multiply rapidly. But what exactly are legionella? How are they transmitted and how fast do pathogens actually multiply in drinking water? All this and how to protect yourself from the dangers of legionella, you will learn in this article.
Legionella in drinking water is not uncommon. Basically, bacteria in low concentrations are inevitably an integral part of any freshwater. However, Legionella can cause flu-like illness in humans.
But what are legionella bacteria anyway? How are they transmitted and what danger do they actually pose? All this and how you can protect yourself from infection with legionella, you will learn in this article.
Legionella are rod-shaped bacteria that are a component of fresh water worldwide. Especially in the water pipes of buildings the optimal conditions for the growth of environmental germs prevail. Legionella infection can have far-reaching consequences for human health.
In this article, you will learn how the pathogens enter the human body, which symptoms can be used to detect legionellosis and which treatment methods are possible.
Legionella can be found wherever there is water. These are rod-shaped bacteria that reside in freshwater and multiply intracellularly depending on the water temperatures prevailing there. The ideal conditions for Legionella are at temperatures between 25 and 50 degrees and in surfaces wetted with water, such as water pipes, fittings or even air conditioning systems.
Especially in older, poorly maintained or even little used water pipes there is an increased risk of legionella. However, calcification or materials such as rubber or plastic can also promote legionella proliferation.
Everyone has certainly heard of legionella. But hardly anyone knows what that is exactly.
Legionella is a genus of rod-shaped bacteria with the scientific name Legionella pneumophila. They stay especially in humid areas, such as drinking water. In small numbers, Legionella are a natural component of surface water and groundwater. However, a regular Legionella infestation can sometimes have serious health consequences for humans – such as pneumonia, the so-called Legionnaires’ disease.
Legionella can also be dangerous when showering, especially if the temperature of the shower water is not optimally adjusted.
